VMWare Server Vitualisation software products and services
The Department of Treasury and Finance (DTF), acting as the Lead Department has entered into a State Purchase Contract (SPC) with Dell Australia Pty Ltd as the sole supplier of VMware Server Virtualisation Software to Departments and Agencies mandated under the SPC Policy. The contract is for two years and has two one-year extension options.
Under the contract, DTF has purchased licenses to use VMware Vi3 Infrastructure Enterprise, vSphere 4 Enterprise and vCenter Server (the “core software”) that:
- can be installed on devices of up to six (6) cores per processor. Subject to this restriction, entities are entitled to unlimited installations during the term of the contract.
- are perpetual;
- include Platinum-level software maintenance and support for the 14 Core Entities listed above; and
- includes rights to use a total of 14 packs (across all Core Entities) of View Premier Starter Kits for Lab and Proof of Concept environments to test the VMware suite.
- includes continuation of any support arrangements, as documented in the ELA (eg. Lab Manager Platinum Support)
The contract also includes all commercially available VMware software at discounted prices and a range of professional services that are available to all customers (core and other entities) under the contract.
Note: As the contract with Dell is a State Purchase Contract, Departments and Agencies mandated under the State Purchase Contracts Policy must only purchase VMware software from Dell.
The Dell SPC is complemented by an End User License Agreement (EULA) entered into with VMware. This contract is also for two years and has two one-year extension options. The EULA includes the provision of a Technical Account Manager (TAM) to be shared by the Core Entities for the first 12 months of the contract.
All required VMware licenses need to be downloaded prior to the expiry of the EULA. Installation and operation must commence within 90 days of the expiration of the EULA.
The VMware EULA supersedes the terms of any “click through” EULA downloaded with VMware software. It also supersedes the terms of VMware software installed in core entities prior to this EULA. That is, VMware software currently installed in a core entity is now covered by the terms of the new EULA including new releases, updates and support for the two year period of the new EULA. The EULA will be made available on the VGPB’s Whole of Government Contracts/SPCs web site.
