The State of Victoria, via the State Services Authority (SSA), has established an arrangement with a Private Health Insurer (PHI) to offer attractive private health insurance services to Victorian public sector employees who work in participating departments and agencies. The scheme is discretionary as to whether an employer or employee accepts to become a member of a particular PHI or not.
The scheme intends to raise the profile of Victorian public sector employment by offering public sector employees the option to join selected providers of good value-for-money private health insurance services. This is aimed at assisting the public sector attracting and retaining the best people. The selection of the PHI/s will be via a public tender process in a Request for Tenders (RFT), as further outlined in this document.
